How do you feel about using multimedia in the classroom, and how would you use multimedia in your classroom? (what aspects of multimedia would you use, and would you allow the students to create their own multimedia)
I think multimedia is a very important aspect of the classroom. Allowing students to submit their own work, also allows them to become more independent and in control of their own education. I will use multimedia in my classroom. Generally it will be used when my students will submit projects.
I agree with Kimberly. Multimedia in the classroom is important. I believe students can learn a lot from it. Also, our world today is becoming more and more advanced in technology. So I think we should use it ask much as we can in the classroom. I will use it in my class room for submission for projects as well as giving presentations for my self and the students.
I feel that the use of multimedia in the classroom can be very beneficial to the students. Students love to have hands-on activities and the use of multimedia would be great to integrate into a lesson. Personally, I hope to teach students K-3rd grades. Students at this age love to see themselves in pictures and videos, therefore, they will find such an activity exciting and new. However, as the teacher, I should have the permission of parents when conducting such lessons, especially if anything will be posted on youtube!
I think that multimedia in the classroom is a great tool when used appropriately. I don't think that every single lecture should be just a power point, but I do like when teachers incorporate video, internet sources, etc. that help keep my attention. As a bilingual ed. teacher I think that I will find media useful through listening to English being spoken via headsets, watching English videos with English subtitles to help students understand the content. Additional interactive ELL media games/programs would be great to have in my classroom and use.
Multimedia technologies can be great tools within the classroom. I feel that since our would is becoming more technological each year, the classroom should too! Teachers need to be willing to learn themselves the tools that multimedia devices have to offer. I would love to use technology in my future classroom. I love the way that students are able to apply their own creativity while learning at the same time! It was impressive to hear about Lincoln High School and that they place everything on You Tube! I admire teachers like the one we saw who can realize the benefits of technology witin the classroom/school!
I agree with Kimberly Godar with the idea that with the use of multimedia students will become more independent and in control of their own education. This goes along with the You Tube video where the teacher said that the students are proud from what they produced and are more likely to show off their technology advancements than a boring paper/pencil assessment test or project.
Multimedia is a great way to introduce students to new tech. and share their work with others in ways that are fun. Multimedia offers such wide uses and can be shared in so many ways that it is great for projects, holiday gifts, science fairs, and schooling your classes activities with other schools. I plan on using lots of multimedia with my future students and hope to engage them in the making as much as I can, depending on what grade level I teach.
In today's technological world, multimedia in the classroom is a must. On my cousin's 4th birthday, I walked into his room, and he was playing a playstation 2 game. I was so surprised, but I guess I shouldn't have been, because I know when I was very young we had Super Nintendo and N64. Anyway, kids are interested in technology, they crave it, so why not give them something fun to do in school and have them be learning at the same time? I love all the educational games that they have on the internet. Multimedia will be used in my classroom as much as it is available. Who knows, maybe we won't even need paper within the next ten years, it will probably be all electronic!!!
I like the points that you guys make about the students' creativity being used in multimedia activities. What specific multimedia activities do you think you will incorporate into the classroom? Digital movies, websites, powerpoints, etc.
Today, multimedia technology should be incorporated into classrooms. Younger generations are so 'up to date' with technology and they expect to be able to use their knowledge. Therefore, as future teachers, we need to discover ways to integrate multimedia and other technologies in our classrooms. Personally, I would like to explore digital movies and wikis with my class. I think both are great for interactive learning as well as for students being able to share their perspectives and ideas. Taking pictures is a hobby of mine and I am sure I will be taking pictures of my classroom and my students participating in different activities. With those pictures, I could easily make a newsletter or a class website that parents could access to keep them involved. They could post/email their suggestions, which would make for constant contact between me, the teacher, and my students' parents.
I definitely agree with other posts saying that having multimedia in the classroom is important. Not everybody has the same learning styles and by having multimedia in the classroom, I feel as if it's accomodating to those needs like say that somebody is a visual learner, using things such as videos and computers can help them view something better! I will definitely use multimedia in the classroom because I feel that once I become a teacher, technology is going to be even more relied on than it is now, so it might not even be an option. It could be a requirement!
I like how everyone is making the point about how advanced technology is in today's world and how accustomed individuals are to it. I thought that Lindsey’s post was interesting on relating the technology of her cousin and herself to reiterate the point that children crave technology and that they could use it in a fun way while being educated.
Multimedia in the classroom is a great resource. I will probably use the movie maker application for my classroom. I think that in my classroom I would want it to be a group project to make a movie together of our "year in motion".
I think that using multimediat in the classroom is a great tool and should be started as early as possible. I will use multimedia in the classroom to create fun learning modules and activities for my students. I will also make assignments where my students are required to use multimedia. I think that multimedia enhances projects by making them look more professional and including more information. The finished project gives students something to be proud of.
Multimedia can enhance students' experiences in the classroom. I will definitely use it in my own classroom in the future because it inspires students' creativity. Creation/Production of the students' own ideas and thoughts is so much more beneficial than going over facts or general knowledge.
I think multimedia is a good way to incorporate technology into the classroom. I plan on using multimedia in the classroom in different ways. I am going to have power points, make digital movies or slide shows, and also probably show some kind of movies. Also, depending on the grade level I teach, I could plan on having the students use multimedia and do a couple of assignments that are fun and educational at the same time!
I think that multimedia is something that is important to incorporate in the classroom. Everything is becoming more and more technologically based, so it is important that students know how to use this, and are exposed to it in the classroom. So I would use this to incorporate lessons within my classroom
I think using multimedia in the classroom is an excellent idea. Sometimes lectures create an atmospher where students may tune out the lecture or miss vital parts of information. Multimedia presentations give students a visual to reference to. Sometimes a video can leave lasting impressions because of images stick in the mind. Multimedia helps engage students and this is critical.
